At the end of his life a wounded Jannes becomes aware of the presence of angels and remembers his birth. Jannes grows up in poverty in Tweerivier, on an island in a river, but he experiences nature, love, his child and the spiritual with a sense of wonder. Then the government starts building a new dam above the Island. A mysterious group of militants, The Templars of the New Earth, arrives, pledging their support to the Islanders’ cause. Jannes, an innocent and looking only to find his own truths, is drawn into the violence that follows.
