Human & Rousseau is regarded as one of the most esteemed general publishers in South Africa, Human & Rousseau was founded in 1959 with the aim to publish and promote Afrikaans books in particular. Today, the company also publishes a great number of English titles. The emphasis is on quality Afrikaans books, popular reads, children and youth books for the general and mass markets as well as cookery and factual books.

This imprint is the home of such internationally renowned authors like André Brink, Breyten Breytenbach and Karel Schoeman.

We try not to be too prescriptive, but here are some basics: We prefer hard copy submissions, printed on white A4 paper and on one side only. Double spacing is preferred as it is easiest to read. Pages should be numbered and it helps to insert the title of your manuscript at the top of each page as header.
